Israel says military attache detained in Russia

An Israeli defense ministry official said on Wednesday that a military attache had been detained and expelled from Russia over industrial espionage suspicions.

The Israeli official said Vadim Leiderman had been detained last week and denied all the allegations. A representative of the military attache’s Moscow office said that Col. Leiderman was already in Israel.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has not commented.

Leiderman had been an Israeli military attache in Russia since 2008 and was due to leave in July.
