TOKYO, July 10 (Itar-Tass) —— The Japanese Fukushima-1, Fukushima-2 and Onagawa nuclear power plants were not affected by the 7.1-magnitude quake that occurred in the Pacific near Honshu Island’s northeastern coast on Sunday morning, the country’s nuclear and industrial security agency reported.
The earth tremours did not damage the Fukushima-1 plant. The plant operator, the Tokyo Electric Power company, said all the systems were working as normal. Specialists believe there is no tsunami threat to the plant and the Megafloat structure located near the coast. Nevertheless, the company decided to evacuate the plant personnel.
The tsunami has already come to the coast of the prefecture of Iwate. The wave was about 10 cm high.
