The leader of the center-left Just Russia party invited on Monday United Russia’s parliamentary speaker and the head of the Communist Party to take part in pre-election TV debates.
After being asked who he would like to invite for the debates, Just Russia head Sergei Mironov said that “I would like to talk to [United Russia’s Boris] Gryzlov and [Communist Party head Gennady] Zyuganov.”
Mironov’s comments come after United Russia party announced that President Dmitry Medvedev, who will head the party list at December’s State Duma polls, will not participate in the debates.
“Dmitry Anatolyevich [Medvedev] is at the top of our list but we have a special debating team,” Sergei Neverov, a member of United Russia’s General Council Presidium said last week.
