Kazakhstan to buy Russian helicopters for ambulance aviation

ASTANA, August 17 (Itar-Tass) —— Kazakhstan will buy 16 helicopters before 2014, where half of them will be Russian made, the republic’s Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Valeri Petrov told a news conference on Wednesday.

“Before 2014, we shall buy 16 helicopters, where half will be of the Eurocopter series to serve road medical stations, and the rest – Russian made ambulance helicopters,” he said.

Kazakhstan’s EMERCOM and healthcare ministry implement the project to organise ambulance aviation. Under the project, before 2014 the country plans to open 40 medical stations by roads, which would provide medical assistance to those injured in traffic accidents, Petrov said.
