Lebedev finds worthy opponent in Barbados

WBA interim cruiserweight champ, Denis Lebedev, has announced the name of his next rival, which will be heavy-hitting Shawn Cox of Barbados.

The bout will take place on April 4 at the Crocus City Hall just outside the Russian capital.

“The agreement to hold this fight has already been signed,”
Vladimir Khryunov, Lebedev’s manager, told R-Sport agency.

Cox would enter the bout in a good mood after a sensational win over WBC champ Wayne Braithwaite in February.

Thirty-seven-year-old Cox’s record in the ring equals 16 victories (15 KOs) and just one defeat.

Meanwhile, the Cox bout will be Lebedev’s first appearance in the ring since he claimed the WBA interim belt, topping James “Lights Out” Toney on points in November last year.

The Russian is five years younger than his opponent, but has held more professional bouts, in which he has collected 24 wins (17 KOs) and has been beaten just once.
