Four police officers were injured in Saturday’s clashes in London with demonstrators protesting government-proposed austerity measures, sacking of state workers and slashing pensions.
According to local media reports, 14 protesters also suffered various injuries and nearly a dozen were arrested. Police blame the riots on a group of some 200 masked anarchists who are moving down the city’s central Oxford Street, pelting shop windows with paint and provoking violence.
According to various reports, there are an estimated 250,000 to 400,000 people taking part in the London protests.
