Saratov police have detained an Uzbek citizen who allegedly killed and dismembered an elderly woman “because of the upcoming Apocalypse,” the local investigation committee reported on Thursday.
The decapitated corpse of the 74-year-old female was found in a private house in Saratov on Wednesday. “The man was arrested at the scene of the crime…He said he killed and dismembered the woman because of the nearing Apocalypse,” an official statement said.
The Uzbek man, 41, had been living in the retiree’s home for the last three days, investigators said. A day before the tragedy he “became very excited, nervous and started talking about an upcoming Apocalypse.”
He faces a jail sentence of up to 15 years if charged.
