MOSCOW, July 11 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and U.S. President Barack Obama discussed bilateral coordination for the resolution of regional and international problems.
In a telephone conversation on Monday, July 11, Obama expressed deep condolences on the loss of life in a steamship accident on the Volga.
“As the heads of state that co-chair the OSCE Minsk Group, Medvedev and Obama exchanged views on the status of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. The American president praised the efforts of the Russian leader in this direction, particularly during a recent meeting with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Kazan,” the presidential press service said.
“Both sides expressed their intention to continue coordinated steps to assist Baku and Yerevan find a peaceful solution to the problem,” it said.
Medvedev briefed Obama on the intensive work done by Russia lately in coordination with the United Nations and the African Union in order to support multilateral efforts to put the crisis in Libya on a peaceful track towards political dialogue.
The heads of state confirmed “their intention to continue to synchronise positions on this and other international problems and noted a favourable opportunity for that that will present itself shortly, particularly during the Russian Foreign Minister’s upcoming visit to Washington”.
Medvedev and Obama also discussed other aspects of Russian-American interaction and agreed to continue synchronising their watches towards further deeper and broader cooperation.
