MOSCOW, Sep 2 (PRIME) — Russia is ready to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in a project to build a system for exporting electric power from Central Asia to South Asia, President Dmitry Medvedev said Friday following talks with officials from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan, RIA Novosti reported.
The project called CASA-1000 encompasses power exports from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan. Russia is awaiting an invitation to participate in this project, Medvedev said.
Russia is also interested in joining the CAPI project implying the construction of a gas pipeline from Central Asia through Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, Medvedev said.
