Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called on big companies to donate money to the sports industry.
“Every big company that has the means, should spend on charity and social projects,” Medvedev said at a meeting with Russian athletes in Moscow.
“This is world practice, this is about human health.” Alexander Gorshkov, president of the Figure Skating Federation, said extra funding was vital for athletes training and receiving medical treatment abroad, which is not covered by the state budget.
