Mitsubishi to Launch Pajero Sport Production in Russia in 2013

Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors carmaker plans to start production of its Pajero Sport off-roader in Russia starting next year, Mitsubishi Motors President Osamu Masuko said on Wednesday.

The new off-roader will be made at the PSMA Rus plant in Kaluga in central Russia, Masuko told reporters at the Moscow International Automobile Salon (MIAS) 2012.

Mitsubishi plans to raise its annual sales to 80,000 vehicles in 2012 compared with 2011 sales volume of 74,166 cars. The Japanese carmaker also expects to increase sales to 150,000 cars by 2015, Masuko added.

The PSMA Rus plant was opened in Kaluga in 2010 and has an annual production capacity of 125,000 cars. The plant currently assembles Peugeot 308, Citroen C4, Peugeot 4007, Citroen C-Crosser and Mitsubishi Outlander cars.
