Moscow and Minsk close nuclear deal

In Minsk Russia
and Belarus have signed an inter-governmental agreement on cooperation in the construction
of the first nuclear power plant in the country. The construction of the
Belarusian nuclear power station which will produce 2.4 gigawatts will be led
by the Russian Energy Company Atomstroyexport.

Belarus is counting on a Russian
loan of $ 9 billion for the completion of the project.

The Nuclear power plant
should be operational in 2018.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that
to ensure the safety of the Belarusian nuclear power station the company will
use the entire arsenal of modern saferty equipment.
