Moscow bus blast caused by faulty battery

A faulty battery exploded on Monday in a bus in north-western Moscow, injuring one man, a local police spokesman said.

A police source earlier said the blast, which occurred in Moscow’s Strogino, could have been caused by an improvised explosive device.

“The battery was blown up in the motor compartment of the bus,” the spokesman told reporters at the site.

The injured man was taken to hospital with minor burns, he added.
