Moscow Climbers Fined for Conquering Vladivostok Bridges

A court in Vladivostok has fined a group of young people for climbing cable bridges in the Far Eastern city to take photos, local police said on Friday.

The young people, including two Moscow residents, arrived in Vladivostok on April 30 for the unusual photo session. On May 1, they climbed bridge towers on Russky Island and took photos from a height of 300 meters. They then posted the photos on Twitter.

The next day, they got onto a bridge under construction across Golden Horn Bay. But a builder soon detained them and took them to a checkpoint where they were met by FSB officers, who were already aware of the photos posted the day before.

The young people were later released. The amount of the fine was not disclosed.

Prosecutors have ordered beefed-up security at the construction site.
