Moscow Opposition Applies for ‘March of Millions’

Moscow’s opposition has applied to hold the third “March of Millions” on September 15 that will be held under the slogan for “Snap Elections! and Against Repression!” opposition leader Sergei Udaltsov said on Friday.

“We were the first to apply to hold a September 15 rally in Moscow and now we will wait for a reply that we should get within three working days. And we will prepare for this, as we think, as the major political event of the fall,” Udaltsov said.

The application is for a march route from Belarusskaya Railway Station in the center of the city along Tverskaya Street to Borovitskaya Square where a demonstration will be held. It is claimed that 50,000 people will participate in the march.

During the demonstration, the opposition will demand to “release those arrested during the ‘March of Millions’ that was held on May 6,” the release of “political prisoners,” the ceasing of repression and the resignation of Alexander Bastrykin, head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Udaltsov said.

A parallel march is planned on the same day in St. Petersburg.
