MOSCOW, September 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Commemorative ceremonies will be held in Moscow this Saturday, on Anti-Terrorism Solidarity Day. Muscovites will remember innocent victims of attacks committed by terrorists in the capital in the past years.
Hundreds of Muscovites will gather at the places of attacks to pay tribute to the memory of people killed by terrorists, for whom a human life is just a small change in a political argument, an official at the Moscow Mayor’s Office told Itar-Tass.
Meetings and flower laying ceremonies at memorials will take place near the monument to the Beslan victims at Solyanka Street, on the square before the Theatre Centre at Dubrovka, near the metro stations Park Kultury, Lubyanka, Avtozavodskaya and Rizhskaya, at the underground crossing at the metro station Pushkinskaya, at Guryanov Street, Kashirskoye Highway and near the National hotel. The day before, a commemorative ceremony took place at Volokolamskoye Highway at the site of the explosion on the airfield in Tushino.
The first terrorist attack was committed in Moscow on August 31, 1999, at Manezhnaya Square in the large shopping centre Okhotny Ryad. The bomb explosion injured 41 people. One of them, a woman, died. In the autumn of the same year, two apartment buildings were blown up. Acts of terror took place in Moscow in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2011. The attacks killed more than 570 people.
