Murder of five people in Tula solved – SK spokesman

MOSCOW, August 3 (Itar-Tass) — The murder of five people, including three children, in Tula has been solved, Russian Investigative Committee (SK) spokesman Vladimir Markin said on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Russian Interior Ministry reported that two suspects in the murder had been detained.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee (SK) Alexander Bastrykin assumed control over the investigation of the murder of three children, aged five, six and eight, their mother and grandmother. Bastrykin personally went to Tula to coordinate the course of investigation.

Police consider detaining a young man, born in 1992, suspected of murdering five people. Investigatory actions are now in progress, and searches are made, he said. Markin added that the suspect had been acquainted with the family.

Five people were found slain on Monday. The bodies of the women were found in the bathroom while the children’s bodies bearing signs of severe beating were found in a room. The grandmother was 60, and her daughter was 35. All the victims’ skulls were smashed, supposedly with a hammer.
