Following last week’s departure of captain Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona, Arsenal have now agreed on terms to sell their other star midfielder, Samir Nasri, to Manchester City.
The 24-year-old French international is now set to undergo a medical survey before completing the reported-$41 million move.
The timing of the deal will also ensure Nasri is not cup-tied in European football, as he will not feature in Arsenal’s trip to Udinese for the away leg of their Champions League play-off on Wednesday.
Arsenal were left with little choice but to sell, as Nasri had turned down a new contract and could have left on a free transfer next year after his current deal with the Gunners expired.
The attacking midfielder has scored 27 goals in 124 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Marseille in July 2008.
