Negligence to blame for Moscow restaurant blast

Investigators have drawn up a list of those who may be held criminally responsible for the deadly gas explosion at a Moscow restaurant on January 9.

The list includes the names of those who may have breached health and safety regulations, or failed to maintain equipment correctly. The gas containers that exploded were stored illegally on a wooden platform.

Investigators are approaching officials involved in the running of the building. The documents in their possession may shed light on who is responsible for the accident.

Over 40 boxes of financial documents and other physical evidence have been collected by investigators to help with their enquiries.

Moscow authorities have promised to compensate the victims of the tragedy in which two people died and over 30 were injured.
