New Jersey to appear on F1 map

Formula 1 is set to hold two Grand Prix in the US starting from 2013, with New Jersey expected to become the venue for the new event.

F1 is set to make its American return next year with the race in Austin, Texas.

But the series’ boss, Bernie Ecclestone, has made no secret of his desire to have another GP in the country, with New York being the preferred location.

According to Autosport.com, New Jersey governor Chris Christie is set to make an official announcement on the matter as early as next week.

The New Jersey GP is most likely to take place in June 2013 so that it would follow the Canadian stage in the F1 calendar.

It is not confirmed where the track will be, but it is likely to run along the banks of the Hudson River – using the waterfront and the iconic Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.
