Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has approved the list of territories banned for purchase by foreign nationals. According to the Land Code, foreign nationals, non-citizens and foreign legal entities cannot own land plots on a number of border territories. Purchase restrictions in border areas are a common practice worldwide, and in most cases, they are borne of security considerations.
