MOSCOW, July 23 (Itar-Tass) — Norway has resumed border control for people arriving from the Schengen zone after a series of terrifying acts of terror, which claimed numerous human lives, an officer with the Russian embassy in Oslo said on Saturday.
“Norway has decided to temporarily resume border control for the Schengen countries,” the diplomat said. “We are not authorised to comment on such measures. For our part, we can only recommend Russians to properly obey laws of the country.”
In late June, the Schengen member states agreed that border control may be resumed in cases of emergency, when the situation is really critical.
At about 18:00 Moscow time on Friday, a powerful explosion occurred in downtown Oslo, in a governmental quarters. The blast partially ruined some buildings and broke window. According to updated information, the explosion claimed seven human lives. Rescue operations are underway.
Several hour later, a 32-year-old man, Behring Breivik opened gunfire at a youth camp on the Utoya island, away from Oslo. A total of 84 people were reported killed in the massacre. Tens were wounded.
