Novice skater Putin plays ice-hockey

Congratulations to Prime Minister Vladimir Putin!

It takes a lot of courage to do something new when you are in your 60’s proving the fact that you are only as old as you feel.

Obviously Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is only 35 years old in spirit and confidence!

As an avid ice skater myself I must now make an open invitation for Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to come to Ottawa, Canada next February 2012 for Ottawa Canada’s Winterlude Ice Skating Festival.

Ottawa, Canada has the longest outdoor ice skating rink in the world and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will have so much fun on it! It is 7.8 km long. 15.6 km round trip. 31.2 km double trip. Skating 31.2 km a day in the winter is a very fun way to spend the afternoon on a sunny cold day!

This will be good ice skating practice for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

For readers interested in seeing what skating is like on the Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway, simply do a search on youtube for Arnold Vinette, Winterlude 2011, Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway. I have posted many great on the ice videos from this past winter.

So MANY congratulations to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, you are an inspiration to people all over the world that you are never too old to learn a new sport, even ice skating.

And now that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has mastered ice skating, I must urge him to try rollerblading which is essentially the same sport only on pavement.

And there is No country in the world better for rollerblading than Russia. With Russia’s 4 meter wide paved sidewalks it is a mecca for people like me who love to rollerblade.

One of the best places to rollerblade in Russia is right beside the Moscow River only a five minute walk away from the Kremlin! So Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has the best rollerblade paths in Russia just outside his office! Literally!!

So for tourists headed to Moscow, Russia for their summer holiday (like me!) keep an eye out on the wide Moscow River sidewalks for Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin practicing his rollerblade skills. A great way to practice for winter ice skating.

This fun article was a surprise for me because I thought all Russians were born with both ice skates and skies on like Canadians are.
