One Dead in South Russia Mine Collapse

A miner injured in a coal mine collapse in South Russia’s Rostov Region has died in hospital, the local emergencies department said on Monday.

The miner was trapped for approximately two hours before being rescued. He was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The mine, in the town of Gukovo and with capacity of 600,000 tons of coal a year, was put into operation in 1958.
