MOSCOW, August 14 (Itar-Tass) — Two motor boats collided on Moscow River late on Saturday.
According to a preliminary version, a motor boat driver lost control of his vessel to collide with another boat, a source close to investigators told Itar-Tass.
“The version that the two boats’ drivers were drunk has not been confirmed. There are no visible signs of their drunkenness. Both drivers were taken for medical examination,” the source said.
As a result of the accident a young woman was killed and a young man was slightly injured.
There were nine young people on both boats.
“The version that the drivers started motor boat racing is being checked, but it is not considered the main version of the accident. Probably, one of the drivers simply lost control of his boat,” the source said.
“The two boats have no technical failures,” the source said adding that they were tugged to shore.
The accident occurred in the Krasnogorsk district of the Moscow region near Crocus City Trade and Exhibition Centre.
The investigation is underway.
