One man was trapped on Monday when a coal mine collapsed in South Russia’s Rostov region, a security source said.
Rescue teams are working at the Almaznaya mine and have succeeded in establishing contact with the trapped miner.
“They can hear the miner who is cut off – he is alive,” a rescue worker said.
The mine, in the town of Gukovo and with capacity of 600,000 tons of coal a year, was put into operation in 1958.
