Opposition Groups Discuss Electoral Cooperation

Russian opposition movements have discussed the possibility of teaming up in upcoming regional elections, former finance minister Alexei Kudrin said on his website on Wednesday.

Kudrin, who now heads the Civic Initiatives Committee, met with billionaire and ex-presidential candidate Mikhail Prokhorov; Vladimir Ryzhkov, co-chair of the Republican Party of Russia-Party of People’s Freedom; A Just Russia’s Gennady Gudkov; and Sergei Parkhomenko, co-founder of the Voters League.

“A working meeting took place in Moscow today,” Kudrin wrote. “[We] discussed the possibility of cooperation in the forthcoming regional elections.”

October 14 is the so-called combined election day in Russia.
