Sergei Udaltsov, the coordinator of the Left Front movement, said he will be at Pushkinskaya Square in downtown Moscow on Saturday to meet and talk to his supporters.
After the opposition rally in Moscow last week, Udaltsov called on all those opposed to the latest parliamentary and presidential elections in Russia to join a “march of millions” on May 1. He also proposed meetings with supporters each Saturday on Pushkinskaya Square.
“We will be there this Saturday and will be talking… It will be a civil initiative, the people’s organizing committee of the ‘march of millions’ in May,” Udaltsov said.
Thousands turned up on Moscow’s Novy Arbat Street on March 10 under the banner For Fair Elections to protest Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s victory at the presidential polls on March 4. Putin won 63.6 percent of the vote according to the Central Election Commission, but critics claim the election was marred by fraud.
