At least 100 Palestinians were wounded on Sunday in clashes with Israeli troops in different areas of the West Bank, the Palestinian satellite channel Al Aksa said.
Global media said at least 12 people had been killed and dozens injured as Israeli troops fired at groups of Palestinian supporters trying to cross the border between Syria and the disputed Golan Heights region.
The violence came as Palestinians marked the 63rd anniversary of the Nakba (Catastrophe), their term for the founding of the Israeli state.
The Israeli army says it opened fire when around 30 Palestinian supporters tried to cross the border from Syria. Other media reports say there were thousands of protesters at the border.
Clashes have been taking place at four separate border-crossing points – in Gaza, the West Bank, the Golan Heights and the frontier with Lebanon, the BBC said.
