Over 100 Workers Evacuated as Mine Catches Fire in Urals

MOSCOW, April 25 (RIA Novosti) – A total of 122 workers were evacuated from a mine in the Urals that caught fire early on Thursday, no one was injured, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported.

A drill repair shop at a depth of 920 meters (3,018 feet) in the Novo-Kalyinskaya mine in the Sverdlovsk Region caught fire shortly after midnight.

It was not immediately clear what had caused the fire, which has by now been extinguished.
