MOSCOW, December 12 (RIA Novosti) – More than 1,000 couples from Moscow plan to tie the knot on this century’s last “magic date,” – 12/12/12, a spokeswoman for Moscow registry offices department said.
“This year, the “magic” date coincides with Russia’s Constitution Day. On this day, about 1,012 couples applied to get married in Moscow registry offices,” she said.
“Magic” date are popular among young people who believe that the unique number will help them make their marriage happy and long-lasting.
“Wedding booms” were registered on “special days” in previous years all across Russia. On November 11, more than 1,100 couples decided to register their marriage in Moscow only, two times more than on other November days.
