The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has received an invitation to send observers to Russia’s parliamentary election in December, PACE Chairman Mevlut Chavusoglu said on Wednesday.
A five-member commission will arrive in Russia a month before the December 4 election, he said, adding that they would stay for three days to observe election preparations.
He said PACE hoped the upcoming election will be “fair and democratic.”
The PACE mission is expected to comprise 40 observers and will be headed by Dutch senator Tiny Kox.
