Police capture would-be suicide bomber

A suspected terrorist arrested last night in Stavropol region is being kept in hospital under surveillance.

Viktor Dvorakovsky was wounded while resisting arrest. He is now in a coma.

Police had been hunting the suspect since March. The man is thought to have been planning a suicide-bomb attack.

He was spotted by officers around midnight. When asked for his ID, Dvorakovsky threw a home-made grenade at the policemen.

One officer suffered concussion. The policemen fired at Dvorakovsky as another device exploded in his hand.

The officers involved in the arrest will now be given a state award.

Dvorakovsky, 23, was put on the wanted list after an explosion in his flat in Pyatigorsk. An explosive device apparently went off while he was assembling it.
