MOSCOW, August 11 (Itar-Tass) — Spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin has confirmed that the offices of a number of top officials of the Main Interior Department of the Moscow region are being searched within the framework of a criminal case opened into protection of illegal gambling business. The office of Department Chief Nikolai Golovkin is also being searched, Markin said.
On August 11, police have been searching the buildings of the Head Interior Department for the Moscow region and the Economic Security department in the framework of a criminal case opened against a number of workers of the prosecutor’s office and Interior bodies who face the charge of covering illegal gambling business, opened by entrepreneur Ivan Nazarov, Markin said.
The search is also being conducted at offices of police workers who had close contacts with Oleg Sudakov under arrest, and in places where Sudakov met his fellow -businessmen, Markin said. He also confirmed that the offices of chiefs of the Department for prevention of economic crimes were being searched as well.
