Police in the central Siberian city of Tomsk are looking into reports that postal workers at a local railway station were poisoned by a toxic parcel, the Interior Ministry’s Tomsk Region office said on Wednesday.
Police who arrived at the scene found a package emitting “a harsh smell.”
A total of 17 people were evacuated, three were hospitalized and another six are undergoing additional checks, the Tomsk Region Emergency Ministry said.
Their symptoms include nausea, vomiting and giddiness.
“Experts are working to identify the substance and who sent it,” police said.
