President Putin to Attend Air Force Centenary Air Show

Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend on Saturday a spectacular air show near Moscow marking the 100th anniversary of the Russian Air Force, the Kremlin’s press service said.

The two-day event, which will be open to public on Sunday, comprises a static aircraft display and an extensive demonstration flight program.

The flight program consists of two parts – the Legends of the World’s Aviation, which involves overhauled World War I and World War II aircraft, and the Common Skies show representing modern combat aircraft.

During the show on Saturday, six Su-25 Frogfoot ground attack aircraft will “paint” the Russian flag in the skies and a group of Mig-29 Fulcrum and Su-27 Flanker fighter jets will “draw” a figure “100” flying over the Zhukovsky airfield.

A demonstration flight of Russia’s fifth-generation T-50 fighter will be one of the key features of the show, which involves over 110 aircraft and helicopters.

The show will culminate with the performance of Russia’s famed Russkiye Vityazi (Russian Knights) and Strizhi (Swifts) aerobatics teams as well as aerobatics groups from Great Britain, Latvia, Turkey, France, Poland, Finland, the United States, Israel and Italy.
