PSG-International Starts On North Russian Power Plant

Czech power facilities designer and builder, PSG-International, has started construction of the Polyarnaya combined cycle heat and power plant in the north Russian city of Salekhard, the firm said on Wednesday.

“It is another important power project for PSG Group in the Russian Federation, after our projects in Krasavino and Kurgan. We have strengthened our position on the Russian market as a general contractor for power projects,” said PSG-International CEO, Tomas Krones, in a statement.

The Czech company plans to complete construction of the $400 million power plant in 2014. When completed, the plant will have an initial capacity of 268 MW, which could be increased to 500 MW.

“Construction is carried out in the area of the North Polar Circle under complicated circumstances. Financing of the project is provided from the Czech Republic,” the company added.
