Putin: NDEP to allot 3 bln euros for environmental projs in Russia

MOSCOW, Aug 2 (PRIME) — The Northern Dimension Environmental Partnership (NDEP) is expected to allocate over 3 billion euros to finance 20 projects in Russia, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the governments presidium Tuesday.

The Russian projects include the modernization of water supply and discharge systems in the cities of St. Petersburg, Syktyvkar, Arkhangelsk, and Kaliningrad, as well as in some cities of the Leningrad Region.

The international partnership fund was founded in 2001 in order to solve environmental problems in the Baltic and Barents Seas areas. The initial combined contribution to the fund amounted to 150 million euros, including 40 million euros provided by Russia.
