Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday denied reports by some media that critical comments, including those calling on Putin to resign, were being removed from the site.
Asked whether the media claims were true, Peskov said: “No.”
Putin’s election website started operating on Thursday. Critics said negative comments disappeared from the site.
Russia will hold presidential elections on March 4, 2012. Putin, who held the presidential post in 2000-2008, is generally considered a shoo-in for a new presidential term this year.
