Rescuers saved all fishermen stranded on an ice floe off Russia’s Far Eastern Sakhalin Island on Sunday, the region’s emergencies service said.
According to latest data 675 fishermen were carried away on an ice floe.
The rescuers received information on an ice floe drifting from the coast on Sunday afternoon local time. The ice floe was 500-600 meters away from the main pack. The rescue effort involved 40 people, 10 floating crafts and two helicopters.
