Ronaldo’s boots stolen before Bayern semis

Real Madrid couldn’t show their best football at Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals as the boots of Cristiano Ronaldo and several other players were stolen ahead of the game.

According to Spain’s Marca newspaper, the boots were taken from the dressing room at Bayern’s Allianz Arena.

The perpetrators managed to rob Real’s stars of six pairs of boots, with three of them belonging to Ronaldo and the rest to Karim Benzema and Mesut Ozil.

“It’s a disgrace,” Jose Mourinho, Real’s coach, told the paper. “Such thing is unimaginable at (Real’s home stadium) Santiago Bernabeu.”

The Madrid side are planning to send a complaint about the incident to the European football governing body UEFA.

Meanwhile, Bayern has refrained from comment, even though the locker rooms at the arena are equipped with video cameras.

Even the wrong boots couldn’t prevent Ozil from scoring in Munich, but his goal wasn’t enough as Real went down 2-1.

The Allianz Arena will be the venue for this year’s Champions League finals on May 19.
