An international music festival dedicated to the memory of cello player, conductor and social activist Mstislav Rostropovich has kicked off in the Russian capital.
Celebrated talents such as Italian cellist Enrico Dindo and Russian jazzman Igor Butman will hold master classes for young musicians.
Rostropovich’s widow, the renowned opera singer Galina Vishnevskaya, is also taking part in the event. She will share her memories and experiences with the participants.
The festival runs through September 24. It is taking place at the Center for Opera Singing on Ostozhenka Street. Entrance is free.
