Russia’s SkyTour excluded from Uniform Register of Tour Operators

MOSCOW, August 15 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s biggest tour operator SkyTour has been excluded from the Uniform Federal Register of Tour Operators, said a report posted on the site of the Federal Tourism Agency (Rosturizm) on Monday.

“Information on the SkyTour tour operator was excluded from the Uniform Federal Register of Tour Operators, as Rosturizm has fixed a growing number of appeals from tourists and tour agencies suffering from the activity of that company, and the agency is confident that the number of such appeals will only keep growing in the future,” the report said.

The tour operator announced on August 5 that it was unable to fulfill commitments to its clients. The report circulated by the tour operator said that “for objective reasons” the operator could not fulfill its commitments on all paid for tours. It said though that tourists were able to get full refunds within ten days.

Like in the case with Luzhniki Travel, the Federal Tourism Agency asked the police for verifying the largest tour operator in Russia.

The company was established in April 2006. It had over 60 offices in Moscow alone and almost 200 offices across the country. The operator was selling tours to twelve popular destinations.
