Russia is developing a radically new submarine engine with a closed cycle according to a senior Navy officer.
Unlike engines with open cycles the closed circuit of the engine allows all gasses that are generated from the turbine to not be released into the environment, and instead are fed back into the combustion chamber, thus assisting in the creation of thrust and increasing the efficiency of the engine.
The submarine is designed for action near the coast.
