Russian police have stopped a major channel of illegal meat imports from Brazil and Argentina, officials said on Wednesday.
Around $352 million worth of meat has been smuggled through the channel through third countries, said Andrei Pilipchuk, head of the interior ministry’s economic security department.
The smuggled meat is believed to have been sold to meat factories and on markets and in chain stores across Russia.
