MOSCOW, November 15 (RIA Novosti) – Russia ranked lowest among the BRICS nations in the Global Dynamism Index (GDI) published by the advisory firm Grant Thornton International on Thursday.
Russia ranked just 43rd in the Index of 50 leading economies on their dynamism in five key areas – business operating environment, economics and growth, science and technology, labor and human capital and financing environment.
Russia gained just 50 points on the 100-score scale, matching South Africa and faring better only in comparison with Portugal, the Philippines, Egypt, Greece, Nigeria and Venezuela. Russia’s scores were below the figures demonstrated by other countries of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) bloc and East European countries.
The highest ranked were Singapore, Finland and Sweden.
“The Nordic region is the most dynamic in the world according to the GDI, scoring 66.1 overall, followed by North America (62.9) and the G7 (59.6),” the survey said.
Russia was ranked among the top ten countries only in the category of economic growth prospects with 73.8 points, with positive trends related to GDP growth, employment, foreign exchange control and foreign trade, corporate tax burden and private consumption.
