ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region, August 17 (Itar-Tass) —— At least 700 transport airplanes of various classes will be manufactured in Russia until 2025, senior vice president of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and chairman of the board of directors of the Irkut Corporation Oleg Demchenko told Itar-Tass on Wednesday on the sidelines of the MAKS-2011 airspace show.
According to Demchenko, in the period up to 2025 it is planned to manufacture 230 light transport planes, up to 100 medium transport planes, up to 100 short take-off and landing freight jets, 240 heavy-duty freight jets, and up to 30 heavy-duty long-haul transport planes.
“I am citing these exact figures because they are fixed in a state defense order,” he stressed and added that the overall figure might be much bigger taking into account commercial orders.
He also said that the Ulyanovsk-based Aviastar aircraft-builder, designated as a chief production facility for the assembly of transport planes, is unlikely to be able to handle all these orders alone, so some orders will be placed with plants in Voronezh, Kazan, and Irkutsk.
