A police force will be introduced into Russia’s army next year in a bid to tackle corruption and bullying in the military, the country’s defense minister said on Tuesday.
“Next year a newly structured military police force will come into operation,” Anatoly Serdyukov said, although, it has yet to receive a “legal basis,” he added.
The military police will specifically target dedovshchina or “rule of the elders,” which is a very violent form of bullying.
