ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region, August 16 (Itar-Tass) — The backlog of orders for strategic airlift jet aircraft Antonov An-124 Ruslan until 2015 exceeds ten, the president of the United Aircraft Corporation, Mikhail Pogosyan, told a news conference on Tuesday.
“This is a rather high demand for such heavy aircraft,” he said.
Together with Ukraine’s partners the Russian side set up a working group on aircraft modernization.
“Programs for An-124 maintenance and modernization are being implemented and programs for sweeping modernization are being discussed,” Pogosyan said.
“At present, we are finalizing the volume of investments, defining sources for their attraction and clearing up what the Ukrainian partners will do,” he said.
Pogosyan stressed the need for assessing the price of the aircraft’s serial production.
“We need to pool efforts with Ukrainian partners,” he said. “As for us we plan to cooperate with the Voronezh aircraft production association, the Kazan production association, Ukraine will be represented by the Kharkov aircraft manufacturing plant.”
