Three Russian athletes have won gold medals at the European Cup Race Walking event in Olhao, Portugal.
Vera Sokolova won the women’s 20 km race event after finishing in one hour, 30 minutes and one second. She was 39 second ahead of her fellow compatriot Anisya Kirdyapkina while the bronze went to Italy’s Elisa Rigaudo (53 seconds behind the leader).
Stanislav Yemelyanov was the best in the men’s 20 km race walk, covering the distance in one hour, 23 minutes and 27 seconds. He was followed by Slovakian Matej Toth (1:23:53) and Jakub Jalonek from Poland finished third (1:23:59).
Denis Nizhegorodov won the men’s 50 km race walk, finishing in three hours, 45 minutes and 57 seconds. The silver medal went to his fellow countryman Igor Yerokhin (3:49:04) and Italian Marco de Luca claimed the bronze ((3:50:12).
